C se Chomu!

I just cant stop rolling on the floor laughing!

Here I was living my temporarily miserable life due to the sudden spate of quizzes follwing the XL-IIMC meet and my blog was "attacked", unbelievably poorly though.

The image shows a statistic of the blog visitors around 6pm. 32 visitors were online simultaneously - 31 of them from Calcutta!!!!!!!!!! And then started an incredibly hilarious episode of cribbing by the Chickens. At some moments, I really had my heart out at the sheer ignorance of the JOKArs. At others, I laughed my butt off at their "logic". I really wonder at the filtering process of the IIMs now. :P

XLer or not, visit this post(link) and have the laugh of your life. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease go through all the comments. It'll take time but will be totally worth it. The same cribs again and again - lesser the logic, more the frequency. :D

The highlight was something else though. Somehow, the JOKArs read this post of mine.(link). Here I wrote about how I wanted to go to IIMC of all the IIMs because it was my father's dream. Now the idiots' pea sized brains made them mock me as if I'm making fun of the people out there only because I didnt get through it. A couple of them asked me to prove that I did by putting up the offer letter on the blog. LOL! For the people who mocked me for preferring XL, rest assured I'm having the time of my life out here. Thank God I made this choice. :)

Now, let me stop laughing like a dork first. Hmm. Now. I made fun of the lack of sportsman spirit, you buggers. I never said IIMC is not a premier institute. Or, I never compared it with XL. It was strictly pertaining to the meet. How did that argument-cum-personal-attack come into the picture?

To add insult to your injury, I am terribly sorry for you. This is the offer letter you wanted. (link). And my TR number is in the image itself. Go to your admissions office and, what were the words..."do the honours"!!! More proof? Here it is. (link)To your horror, I actually preferred XL over IIMC. Sorry again! Never thought I would have to prove this, but what the hell and let me be honest, I'm loving it. :D

P.S. For the weak-at-RC folks out there, this is an example of making fun. So please dont start again cribbing about me being a "crybaby"!!! LOL! I posted this because I was forced to :D

P.P.S.: For 'the fingers on the keyboard": I respect the way you put forward your points. :)
The intention is not to malign IIMC at all. Its just that a few people were incredibly illogical.

  4. Hell of management fight... I could sense what would have been d atmposhere in d event...

I read all d comments... I don't know what went right and wrong in d event... but d way things went from insti fight to personal attack is really a shame on few C- guys... Kudos to IIM-C guys for winning... A winner will always be a winner no matter what is d margin.... But d way few of u(winners) behaved... certainly don't certify u as d champions... learn the d spirit of a winner and don't be a shamless moron who attacks on d personal front... dis surely qualify u to be arrogant morons... Please u IIM-elites behave like a true champ not a as a desperate to prove that ur d winner.

  5. in meet kacchchy's words, there are somethings money cant buy. One of them is XL-IIMC meet. It was a special experience indeed. :)

The personal attacks were disappointing. I hope they wont do it anymore. Its just that the meet is so intense, we feel everything related to the insti's prestige is at stake. hence the behaviour.

thanks a tom for the support. I appreciate it, bro!

  7. chomu's definition that you told me about in urban dictionary fits so aptly on these. perfectly agree with ankesh. personal attacks are always shameful. glad you tore them to pieces, dude.

You're right about this, dude. I don't get why people think that the battle is not on the sports ground, but in the real world and that the winner of the XL-IIMC trophy automatically gets to call itself the better B-school.

And as you said, enjoying victory is one thing. Personal attacks on someone's blog is another. And if 32 people logged on to your blog at the same time, it's more than a coincidence. It shows a planned group attack, which is not really very far from cowardice. Why has the sledging from during the game continued here on people's blogs? Sledging should have stopped after the game stopped. My voice is still hoarse from all the yelling during Kaustubh's TT match, but I was among the many XLers who went and shook Joy's hand for a match well-played just minutes after the game was over.

  10. @ Gurdit: the winner just gets the bragging rights for an year, dats it! and in this case, IIMC lost even that! I just hope the IIMC junta reads this comment of yours :) Sledging fiiiinally seems to have stopped :) thanks man!

  14. @varun( who i presume is the MangoMan)

Before you read any of the following, a humble request ,PLEASE take it in the right spirit. It is NOT meant to demean u or defame XL in any way. and one more thing I am from IIM-C :)

    1. 31 ppl logging in and planning an attack on this blog: Varun just a question to you. do u really think it to be so? wat wud u or ur fellow XLrs do if someone amongst us created a blog that just went about ridiculing XL and their mannerisms and their sports and blah blah... wudnt u guys do the same? Solidarity is one thing that we pick up at B schools even though it is not taught in the classrooms. Just count the people who supported u and the number of people who opposed u. almost, if not exactly, same. so my point is everyone loves their college. we love ours as much as u do urs...
honestly, i wud ve liked the number to be atleast 10 times considering the number of people we have on campus! :) bro, while i dnt justify any kind of mud slinging from either side, i thikn its just abt taking pride in the place where u study and doing everything to protect its integrity.

    2. Sledging: I was there...and if u ask me ....again honestly...i wudnt be able to pick a winner as to who sledged more(or rather more bad) ...so i think we can let that thing rest in peace..

    3. All the ridiculing: Varun, i ve a read a couple of your blogs and have been impressed by your way of writing. but wud just like to ask you..was ur titling this blog as " C for C******" justified?... My point here is ...see what the heat of the moment did to you..u did sumthing wrong and then u rectified it by changing the title. Its the same with other people , ppl from your as well as my college..the heat gets the better of us.. but as the owner of this blog i expected more maturity from u.

    4. MOST IMPORTANT: dude , I suck at quizzes big time and i presume( curse me if i m wrong) that u mite as well be the same... so dnt waste any more time collecting applauses from ur batchmates and criticism from mine! :) :) :) Gud luk!

@the rest all: a humble request, please stop ridiculing each other

    1. We would write our views but probably would not gang up simultaneously and even if we did, we would definitely NOT go into the personal domain! imagine, the first comment to start the episode was the reference of the earlier blog post related to IIMC!! I never questioned the integrity of y'all, bro. Whatever happened on the sports field, from both the sides, was totally spontaneous. My only intention was to make fun of a couple of instances.

    2. Agreed! :)

    3. Thanks for the compliment. You're right. I realized my immaturity and changed the title instantaneously. Its just that I was having a gala time.

    4. I suck biggie man! Busy week ahead! Glad it settled today :) Had a great time though :P

  17. This is my first comment till date. I have always been content smiling at the pinch of humour with which you describe things- even a screwed up BFA quiz appeared funny when looked at through your eyes. I read the ‘controversial’ blog also in a similar vein- smiled and moved on to a monstrous Kakani assignment waiting to kill me. What I failed to consider (and probably should have realized) was that the blog could hurt people’s sentiments. What was routine banter for people who understand your style of writing could easily be construed as an insult by the people on the receiving end.

I understand that emotions run high in an event of such magnitude and heritage. With so much at stake, there would always be opposing viewpoints to the same action that took place. I also understand that I would want to retaliate at a joke targeted at my college. But what I DO NOT understand is why somebody would raise such a foolish personal question related to CAT when the discussion is about a sports meet. That guy’s reasoning and logic section must have been extremely poor. I clarify that this comment is NOT directed at IIMC or IIM Cians – This comment is meant for an arrogant loser whose only claim to fame seems to be that he cleared the exam for a great institute. I know IIM C has some wonderful profs but I guess even great people sometimes make the mistake of admitting such weirdos.

You did a great job by uploading the scanned letter... in his own words, that should ‘shut him up’ and yes, before I leave the issue, several of us here have converted IIM and other calls but we do not believe that that makes us better or worse off than what we already were.. these are merely exams, no more and no less and we do not make the mistake of judging our entire worth by our performance in one particular event... request you to judge the author by what he writes and not by the number of entrance tests that he has cleared so far....

@ amit: agree to everything u’ve said.. hv no intention of fuelling or talking of the discussion or comments on this topic but somewhere that one statement hit a wrong chord...rest assured, xl-iimc meet was one of the best days of my stay here on campus.. enjoyed the battle of nerves played by the two teams and the immense talent of players from both sides... looking forward to a good old battle next yr :)

  18. VKG.. some post yaar.. went through all the comments.. Have to say, the fact that u stood by your stance in spite of all the shit they were talking is really beyond any words.. just plain awesome.. I would have loved to be online then and there, but then you have certainly made them eat their own words.. It seems from the aggressive tone earlier(and needlessly so),everyone has now gone to a position of damage control, and talking about solidarity and all.. The fact that none of them has anything more to say is in itself a good enough point..

And @Amit, if you manage to read this.. well it would be really great if even the rest of ur batch could keep the tone of their posts the way you have, but it really is one thing to show solidarity, and something totally on the other side of the spectrum to jump onto someone's blog and challenge him or ridicule him.. i m sure you will realize the difference I am talking about..

Anyways.. Hope this is it for this matter..

  19. @ Ruchika: Thanks for the compliment first :) Regarding the getting hurt thing, it's all in plain humor and the right spirit. i dont intentionally offend anyone though i'll keep it in mind!

thanks for the support and i appreciate wot u said abt we being the same persons regardless of being able to clear some random tests or not :)

@ vimarsh: hats off to you to go through all the comments :) and thanks a zillion for the support :) would have loved if a few more XLers were online at that time...but am realllly glad people are turning up now :) thanks man, thanks again.

  20. Hey we at IIM C actually do monitor what is being said about our college in outside world (which explains the number of hits....).
and we generally do not like someone spouting random shit about our college..(Except maybe there are some special cases when we are supposed to give some people the benefit of being totally irrational)

    ReplyDelete
  21. First of all..should appreciate your style of writing..you just play with words beautifully...

Now coming to the fight..I've gone through all of the comments in the last 2 posts..It so seems like people are dramatizing things on either sides...If 31 people were online at one point of time..then dont think its a planned attack..am sure even those 31 ppl would never know each other..If there is a post by Shiv-sena on Rahul Gandhi.. then congress people all over India would comment on that..now dont say its a planned attack...thats the best part of online forums..
    ..
I see there are some people with neutral point of views..but you seem to ridiculing them saying they have changed their stance all of a sudden..take each one's point of view separately and dont generalize them.
    ..

    ReplyDelete
  22. @ Skare cro: every damn B-school does it bhai saheb, you are no exception! And when did I "spout" shit about your college? english samajh nahi aati? hindi mein samjhaun?

  23. Phew!! Had fun reading all the comments there :P

You really stood up all alone..Proud!!
But felt more Xlers should have voiced out..

Though you must admit, 'XLRIP' was creative after the silly ones in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ unknown: thank you, coz i'll take it as a compliment. dramatizing toh ho rahi hai dono taraf se... you cant help it! it was a high-throttle meet!

31 people, all from Calcutta, all commenting, at the same time, on a blog!! How does this not qualify as a planned attack man? Damn.

I didnt get the bit regarding the neutral poeple. i never ridiculed anybody with a neutral pt of view...i even appreciated many who were on ur camp as well, man! if the things were put in a proper fashion, i gave them the respect they deserved. else, i am the last one to hide like a sissy, on an internet forum or otherwise!

@ dipa: Many did! Its just that our batch strength is far lesser than them. Many thnx for the support :)

    @ abhishek joshi: :)
@ abhishek non-joshi: :) it sure was creative! appreciate it :)

  26. @ IIM-C Guys,

Please don't try to rationalize "31 people do not constitute a planned attack". Guys, look at your reasoning. If 31 people comment on a post by Shiv Sena about Rahul Gandhi, then like you said, "THEN CONGRESS PEOPLE ALL OVER INDIA WOULD COMMENT ON THAT". Do you have any clue how many "congress people" there are all over India? It wouldn't surprise me to see 10,000 people online at the same time, bashing on Shiv Sena's blog (if it has one), because such a blog would have a very large audience. It's a political party that makes the NATIONAL HEADLINES everyday. It's only natural that such a thing would attract so many posts and opinions.

How many people are in IIM-C? not more than 900? Out of 900, 31 people RANDOMLY landed on Varun's UNKNOWN blog? Do you have any clue what his traffic rank is? For personal blogs such as this one, it would be a huge surprise to me if 50 people start commenting on his blog simultaneously.

As a blogger with quite a bit of experience in terms of traffic trends for personal blogs (since I have heavily monitored the behaviour of readers on my blogs), I can tell you that the probability of 31 people from IIM-C landing on Varun's blog and posting comments is VERY VERY LOW.

I do not make statements without thinking carefully about it. I am pretty sure that even if it wasn't a "PLANNED ATTACK" (for example, "let's all go his blog at 3 PM tomorrow and inundate the freak with comments!!!!"), the link to this blog was passed around and people started attacking it instantaneously ("Dude, did you see this effin' blog?? ATTACK THE MF!!"). Even the latter case, in my opnion, constitutes nothing short of an ATTACK.

So, please stop saying "31 people posted...it's not a planned attack", because it bloody well is. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That must shut him up! I'm pretty sure he might never have heard of Google PR. the probability is very very very very low. My blog's PR (sadly though :( ) has always been 1. Actually this was only the second time, so many people were online.

Koi na, "solidarity" ke naam pe sab chalta hai..a.nd you know wot JOKArs, you wouldnt be getting such hate somments if you hadnt trodden on the personal domain. ek bhool!

btw ye nitin bhaiya gaye kahan...maine kabka post kar diya offer letter...itni bhi kya naarazgi ab!! :P

  43. Have always heard about the awesome culture of XLRI, it being different from what they have (Holier than the Lot attitude)in IIMs. The lowest among them was Nitin, asking for the scan of offer letter. Dude, CAT is just an exam and how wrong things can go isn't a mystery after the controversies related to the CAT and the results.Till last year they had few like him this year they will have a plethora of them. Fond of questioning the credibility of XL? Now there is a question mark on the credibility of IIMs.

I am sure that anyone with a slight bit of reasoning would consider even comparing IIMs and XLRI this year.Till last year the level was comparable but this year XLRI is going to have a better batch than the top IIMs.

P.S. Hoping I convert the XLRI calls. One may tell it may be a tale of sour grapes since I didn't get calls from IIMs, thanks to the transparency they had but I am happy that the grapes are sour.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Dude, I just hope you get through XL and get to know that every bit of wht you've heard about the XL culture is true :)

IIMs made a fun of themselves this year and I'm sure the next batch of XL is gonna rock big time!
