Dyin' For A Living

- Written, Composed and Performed by Varun Gupta

Out exclusively on Broken Records

Download Song (Apologies for the obvious things :P)

Lyrics:

I see people all around me

I see lots of them.

Everybody’s goin’ crazy

Everywhere is a new mayhem.

All the time they’re runnin’

It’s not their fault;

They’re dyin’ for a living

Nothing’s under control.

All I want to say, All I want to do,

Is to make them realize, none of this is true.

I would say to them, “Look around you,

Think of the best things, may be count a few...

You can wake up

With the woman you love;

Kiss her good morning

While she’s still not up.

You can see the birds

Heading back to home;

And Think of your children

Waitin till you come.

You can watch the rain

Thinkin’ what it was like;

When you were a kid of eight

And you realize

It was a lot better

You were in no hurry;

There wasn’t a deadline

There was no worry...

  2. Very true portrayal of the hectic and fast life... a mad race

    n no time to sit n think of d life and how we can make it a happier, rather accumulating materialy wealth and adding complexity to d simple day day to routine which makes life boring ... true thoughts reflecting through words..
    keep writing these true words of life sir...

  3. commendable.. n truly true.. makes me ur fan..all over again.. gud time flies by before u notice and till the time u realise it, it is too late.. so let the deadlines be.. leave the worries they will handle themselves.. n enjoy n live every moment of ur short life so that u never look back n feel sorry for not having time.

  4. I would prefer to disagree here,deadlines change their nature with age!at an age of eight,the deadline is not to amass wealth,but to read 2 chapters for some unit test,the deadline is not to compete in a rat race but to get groomed for the rat race!so worries and hurries always there!yeah,their intensity varies!the only time u don't have a deadline is when u die coz u know-u have met all of them long before,now its time to meet the big one!anyways a nice effort but a bit different from the reality!

    @ anony: i appreciate ur point of view...u made me think :) thing is wen u wr 8, u weren't bothered abt the consequences dat much wen u screwed up ur unit test as compared to today's deadlines, ryt? today the shoulders are overburdened and we just don't pay importance to the best things in life that are free...dats all i wanted to say. all said and done, dont u wish to go back and be 8 again? see, there's my point :) keep ur comments coming.
