Phewww!!!!

Its a divine morning, the 5th of January. I'm at home. A friend calls me up and I get to know JMET results are out. Monsieur Brain does a time warp.

Dec 13. Ranchi.

Indian Institute Of Foreign Trade (IIFT) results of the written test were out around 6. I was through and so were 4 others from our batch. Being the first to be out, the result thrilled me. No ranks, percentile or scores were given (A score card was put up later on the website. I got 34.475). We roamed about the narrow streets - with a flurry of shopping malls on both sides - of state capital the whole evening. It was a stark contrast with Jamshedpur, one of the best planned towns in the country.

The next morning. DAV Shayamali. The school where our larger-than-life cricket team skipper M.S.Dhoni got his education from. I was taking the Joint Management Entrance Examination (JMET 2008). It was a three hour paper. I was pleasantly shocked – no, stunned – at the level of (un)difficulty. Completed the paper in 135 minutes attempting 115 out of 120 silly questions. 45 minutes to go. The things going through in my mind can’t be described. In short, the same question-setters who I thanked profusely on seeing the paper were being given mouth…errr…mindfuls. It seemed so unjust to me (though, obviously, it wasn’t). The paper should have been of a two-hour duration. Others were getting extra 45 minutes for the same number of questions. I spent that time in “revising” my management entrance exam paper!!!!

Back to Jan 5. Home, Suuweeeet Home.

Momma keys in my registration number on the website and the result flashes. I was expecting an AIR under 400.

Jaldi batao yaar. Dekho na wahin kahin rank likha hoga.”
12 bata raha hai…'Your all India rank is 12'

WHAAAAAT!!!!

And 12 it is. Well agreed its not CAT. Agreed a far lesser number of candidates appear for JMET, actually only engineers are allowed. But being the 12th among the engineers who took the test in incredible as well.

Its one of the best feelings on earth. Its called “Phewww!!!!”
